Every picture tells a story and first impressions are usually lasting. Many artists are wary of “image consciousness” and are deeply worried that it is synonymous with “fake”. Not so. If you are serious about your work then the attention that you pay to presentation matters deeply.
It’s not necessarily about flamboyance or frippery. The best visual images are an art form in their own right and individuality is as much about capturing a moment and making a suggestion in a single frame. Easy in theory, now that cameras can do so much of the work. But in practice, it’s the photographer’s eye that gets the outstanding result.
Gavin McLaughlin‘s work is all about patience and the reward that it brings. The portfolio above illustrates our collaboration at SNJO rehearsals and provided the orchestra with a raft of professional images they can use again and again for a variety of different purposes.
